The Barnstable Old King's Highway Historic District Committee reviewed the application for William Golden
submitted by Neal Holmgren of Solar Rising,LLC, on May, 19,2020,to install 25 Solaria 3670 Watt,all black solar
panels on the existing roof plane.
Mr. Holmgren began by describing the project. The panels are proposed on a single roof plane on the front
elevation.The homeowner, Mr. Golden, stated that the current roof color had been previously approved by the
Barnstable Old King's Highway Historic District Committee.
Chair Richard responded by stating that he had visited the site and noted that there are no other solar panels
visible on Keveney Lane. He added that the roof looks Medium brown to him and there would be a contrast
between the roof color and solar panels. Chair Richard did not feel the project was appropriate as submitted.
George Jessop also visited the site and also noted there were no solar panels visible in the neighborhood. Mr.
Jessop felt the project was inappropriate for the setting. Clerk, Carrie Bearse, also felt the panels were
inappropriate on the front elevation given the property is located on a well traveled scenic road, Elizabeth°Bett"
McCarthy, also felt the project was inappropriate as submitted but felt if the roof color was darker it would be
more appropriate.
Chair Richard called.for public comment. The Administrative Assistant, Erin Logan, confirmed there were no
members of the public in the Zoom Meeting waiting room,waiting to get access the meeting.With no members of
the public present to oppose or support this project,Chair Richard closed public comment.
Based upon the review of the application and testimony, the Committee voted unanimously to deny the
application.
