Happy Monday!!! I received a call this morning from an irate elderly man who want us to legitimate an illegal apartment in a 1726 home at 2615 Route 6A with a wave of our magic wand. The file seems to indicate that he may have nonconforming rights to two units but not to the three units that are actually there (and noted by assessing). After listening to him complain about the tax bill and also that OKH will not allow him to do anything with the property (read demo here), he issued a thinly veiled threat to burn it down. I am not sure if this is a valid threat or not but he did say the same thing to Jackie in GMD. My file indicates that I spoke to the property owner on 5/23/06, reiterating what I told him today. I obviously felt compelled to document our conversation at that time. Today's revisiting is the result of a failed attempt to obtain an additional utility meter for the illegal apartment. Whereas he keeps saying everyone agrees the property is in a state of disrepair, the threat to burn it down may warrant an extra look now and then. Better safe than sorry! Thanks! 9106in • Rob..7n C.
