At that time we had a verbal agreement with Mrs. Frances Bush-Brown to purchase her property on 200 Old Jail Lane. We passed on 200 Old Jail Lane in January of 2001 as was her wish for a closing date. Even before we had officially purchased the land, we had it cleared and surveyed, had a road cleared, and stumps removed. We also engaged a builder, and have a written agreement with William Liiamatian, of Marston Mills, and have given him a $5,000 retainer with building to begin by June 1 st. Of course, we also had to have building plans, so engaged Thomas Moore of Brewster to do our plans. This all occurred before we had even read of the moratorium. To date we have spent $175,000 for the land, $5,000 retainer for the builder, $2,150 for the lot to be cleared and trees removed, $ 2,575 for the road and stumps removed, $2,950 to Down Cape Engineering (first check written 10/30/2000), and $1,700 thus far to T. Moore Design Company (first check 11/2/2000). For a total of $189,375 and we have just received a tax bill.
