RE: Thornton Drive operation
On September 20, 1999 and September 21, 1999 our office conducted site inspections on Thornton Drive.
We documented 20 locations with violations of zoning,building code and plumbing codes. Some of the
most serious violations involved Groundwater Protection District violations which,as you know,could
affect the quality of our drinking water. All were cited for their violations and given a definitive amount of
time;usually seven days,to rectify the problems. A summary of the violations are as follows:
1) 12 Thornton Drive(Murph's Recession)-illegal storage of trailer being used for business purposes,
excessive storage of tires and debris,mechanical parts of motors on the ground. Given a$50 ticket.
2) 30 Thornton Drive(South Shore Canvas Yacht),-excessive storage of unregistered vehicles,boats and
debris. Given a$50 ticket.
3) 31 Thornton Drive(Brazilian Auto Repair)-illegal use without Site Plan Review approval. Must file
within seven days. Given a$50 ticket.
4) 31 Thornton Drive(Magic Touch)-washing autos in violation of groundwater ordinance. Given a$50
ticket.
5) 31 Thornton Drive(Mike Becal)-Groundwater Protection ordinance violation. Open oil and gas
containers,engine parts,junk. Given a$100 ticket due to failure to act after a citation a week ago.
6) 72 Thornton Drive(Magnum Auto Repairs)-ill'egal use without Site Plan Review approval,excessive
debris and tires stored on site. Given a$50 ticket.
7) 72 Thornton Drive(Fred's Auto)-illegal use without Site Plan Review approval,excessive debris and

ticket.
15) 146C Thornton Drive(Jack Mattos)-no Site Plan approval,illegal use auto repair. Given a$50
ticket.
16) 146D Thornton Drive(L&M Calipher)-no Site Plan Review,illegal construction,addition without
permits,excessive junk and debris. Given a S50 ticket.
17) 157 Thornton Drive(All Cape Automotive)-excessive debris,oil drums,stock piled outside. Given
a$50 ticket.
18) 157 Thornton Drive(Northeast Tool)-illegal trailer,outside debris without Site Plan. Given a
warning.
19) 178 Thornton Drive(Brice Autoworks)-no Site Plan Review,excessive debris,trailer,expansion
onto neighbor's land. Given a$50 ticket.

inspections and a survey of the Thornton Park area.. It has been brought to
our attention that your building has increased in size. This office has no
record of a building permit to authorize such an increase/expansion.

Dear Mr.DaLuz:
I've tried to reach you three times today,but you weren't in at the time.. I'm flying back to
Europe on business for three weeks,but,I'm confused by your letter and this is why I'm
writing.
I don't have any paperwork or records because of the amount of years ago that we did take
the permits.
The first problem maybe that the address is,actually 58 Thornton Drive since they re-
labeled all the addresses because of the change to condo. All the work to the shop area
was done in our permit agreement back in 1981. The building next door(showroom)was
done around 1985. The shop was inspected by yourself and I'm not sure who did next
door, but, it was done as so we could sell the units. I have cosmetically upgraded the
buildings to keep the area looking as best as possible in this low level area.
I requested from my accountant a copy of the check paid to the town for the permits. He
doubts they still exist because anything over seven years is disposed of.
Finally, the surveyors from Shields Development had all my building files in hand when
they did out back. They were the first to actually pin point our buildings location which
they found off from the town's prints. If they were ever returned is another question.
Most likely not since I received your letter.
I was going to get a lawyer involved with them because of them filling in the wetlands in
back of my property which I still have photos of that area, and it shows that it was
definitely a wetland. At which time I was told it was already approved by the town.

While I'm away my carpenter,James Upton,will be at your service to re-draw anything you
need for your files,he can be reached at 771-2829. He has done all the finish work and
maintenance and is very familiar with the properties.
I also wish the town would address the water build up at the bottom of the street I had to
spend more money last year for extra catch basins to be installed and I'm constantly
paying for their cleaning.
