HomeMy WebLinkAboutOKH 01 25 23 Draft Minutes Town of Barnstable Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee MINUTES Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 6:30pm To all persons deemed interested or affected b y the Town of Barnstable's Old King’s Highway Historic District Act under Section 9 of Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended. You are hereby notified that a hearing was held by remote participation via Zoom Meetings on the following applications: Bett McCarthy, Chair Present George Jessop, AIA Present Ryan Coholan Absent Lesle y Wallace Present Wendy Shuck, Clerk Present Erica Brown, Admin Assistant Present A quorum being met, Chair Bett McCarthy called the hearing to order at 6:30 pm. The Chair explained the hearing and appeal process and invited the public to address the Committee and view the plans of interest when the application is called. ______________________________________________________________________________ Roll Call Chair Bett McCarthy called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and took roll call. Attendance Roll Call: Bett McCarthy Lesley Wallace George Jessop Wendy Shuck APPLICATIONS Brandin, Jan & Kerry Trs, 54 Scudder’s Lane, Barnstable, Map 258, Parcel 021, built 1850 Relocate existing shed, construct new 309 sq. ft. addition, and reinstall existing rinse station. Mike Rockwell, representative, present. Mike- Would like to detach existing shed from the house and relocate to the northeast of property and where the shed once was construct an addition of the house. Match all the existing materials and colors. George- What’s the surround on the outdoor shower? Painted? Mike- Painted vertical cedar boards. Yes painted. Wendy- When you relocate the shed, how will it be situated? The red door facing the driveway? Mike- Yes. Wendy- Clarifies that the shed will remain the same color as it is right now. Mike confirms. Materials are appropriate. Blends nicely and in keeping with the neighborhood. Lesley- The new addition will have the shower attached just like the existing is attached to the shed? Mike confirms. Looks fine to Lesley. Bett- Addition blends in very well with the home. It’s at the rear of property and does not appear to look visible from the road. Everything is matching existing and no problems with the project. Public comment: None. A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for Brandin, Jan & Kelly Trs, 54 Scudder’s Lane, Barnstable, Map 258, Parcel 021, built 1850 to relocate existing shed, construct new 309 sq. ft. addition, and reinstall existing rinse station, seconded by George Jessop, Roll Call Vote Lesley Wallace – aye George Jessop – aye Wendy Shuck – aye Bett McCarthy – aye George Cottage LLC, 86 George Street, Barnstable, Map 319, Parcel 071, built 1926 Construct 11’ by 6’ one story bathroom addition attached to the rear elevation of main house. Steve Devlin, representative, present. Steve- Small addition to house a bathroom. Matching with pvc trim and white trim, natural cedars to match the house, red cedar roof, and will be added to the main roof as well. George- Asks if insurance company will insure a red cedar roof with proximity of adjacent structures. Steve- Confirms that it will be insured. George- Pop out of rear wall for bathroom has a long history. Good. Lesley- Looks good. Likes idea of the roof. Wendy- East elevation, appears to have outside shower. Are you relocating the outside shower? Steve- No, that’s where this is going. Wendy- South elevation, are you going to remove a window? Steve- Not working in that area. Mistake on the sketch. Wendy- Looks great. Materials are good. Bett- Blends in well. Rear of property. Does it meet the setbacks for the rear of the property line? Steve, Yes. Plenty of room off of the rear. Public comment: None A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for George Cottage LLC, 86 George Street, Barnstable, Map 319, Parcel 071, built 1926 to construct 11’ by 6’ one story bathroom addition attached to the rear elevation of main house, as submitted, seconded by George Jessop, Roll Call Vote: Bett McCarthy - aye Lesley Wallace - aye Ryan Coholan - aye Wendy Shuck - aye Approval of Minutes January 11, 2023 A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the January 11th 2023 minutes as submitted with the correction that Paul Richard be struck from the roll call, seconded by George Jessop , Roll Call Vote: Bett McCarthy - aye Lesley Wallace - aye George Jessop - aye Wendy Shuck - aye Next Meeting Date: February 8, 2023 ADJOURNMENT- Bett McCarthy moved to adjourn meeting.
