Jansson 3267 Main Street Barnstable, Mass. 02630 Dear Attorney Jansson: I am writing regarding three abandoned underground tanks at 819 South Main Street, Centerville. I visited the site on March 26, 1985, but was unable to gain access to the tanks, for an inspection, due to corrosion of the caps. According to your records there are three 1,000 gallon tanks; two containing #2 fuel and one containing gasoline. In conferring with Mr. John Kelly at the Board of Health, you must take the following action regarding the tanks: .1. All tanks to be pumped out by a licensed company. 2. Remove the gasoline tank from the site, first having the disposal company get a permit from the Fire Department. 3. Put an air pressure test on the two empty #2 fuel tanks, - for a minimum of four hours each, and if they leak, they must be removed. However, if they do not leak, they .may be neutralized by filling the empty tanks with sand until they are full. Thank you.
