HomeMy WebLinkAboutOKH 02 08 23 Draft Minutes Town of Barnstable Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee MINUTES Wednesday, February 8, 2023, 6:30pm To all persons deemed interested or affected b y the Town of Barnstable's Old King’s Highway Historic District Act under Section 9 of Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended. You are hereby notified that a hearing was held by remote participation via Zoom Meetings on the following applications: Bett McCarthy, Chair Present George Jessop, AIA Absent Ryan Coholan Present; dismissed. Lesley Wallace Present Wendy Shuck, Clerk Present Kaitlyn Maldonado, Assistant Director, Planning & Development Present Erica Brown, Admin istrative Assistant Present A quorum being met, Chair Bett McCarthy called the hearing to order at 6:30 pm. The Chair explained the hearing and appeal process and invited the public to address the Committee and view the plans of interest when the application is called. ______________________________________________________________________________ Roll Call Chair Bett McCarthy called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and took roll call. Attendance Roll Call: Bett McCarthy Lesley Wallace Wendy Shuck APPLICATIONS Barnes, Virginia, 280 Main Street, West Barnstable, Map 134, Parcel 009/001, built 1986 10 new construction windows to replace (10) existing windows. Include historic PVC exterior trim. No change will be made to rough openings. Exterior color will remain white. Double hung windows will be 6/6 equal sash. Jim Hannon, representative, present. Jim describes the project. 10 new construction windows, exterior will be white, simulated true light grilles for the simulated historic look, 8 double hungs to replace 8 existing double hungs, and 2 new awnings to replace existing 2 awnings. 6 light pattern on the awnings. Lesley- Basically the same. Thinks it is appropriate. Wendy- Agrees with Lesley. Is it currently 9 over 6 and going to 6 over 6? Jim- Yes. Original look is more expensive and want to do 6 over 6. Wendy- Fits in. Bett- Are those grilles on the exterior? Jim- Yes, to mimic historic look. Public comment: None. A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for Barnes, Virginia, 280 Main Street, West Barnstable, Map 134, Parcel 009/001, built 1986 to construct 10 new construction windows to replace (10) existing windows. Bob Fournier, homeowner, present. Bob Fournier asks to change the description from cottage to shed. This property is on a corner lot. It can be seen from the r oad. Ultimately will put some bushes and shrubbery. Want to have a window to have light in the shed. Feels would fit in well with the community. Vinyl siding will be the same color as the house. Lesley- What does your house look like? Will be in keeping with the house architecture? Bob- It is an elongated ranch. Lesley- As long as it goes with the house, thinks it will be appropriate. Wendy- The vinyl siding will be clapboard? Bob- Yes. Wendy- The color is olive? Bob- Raises picture with color. Slightly lighter than the house. Wendy- Planting? What did you have in mind? Bob- Larger plants closer to the road. Azaleas potentionally. Wendy- In keeping with style of the house and homes in the neighborhood. Color will fit in. Thinks it is appropriate. Bett- Will the shed be on level with the stone wall or above it? Bob- Above. Bett- Thinks this is appropriate. Public comment: None A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for Fournier, Robert & Leticia, 371 Marstons Lane, Barnstable, Map 349, Parcel 099, built 1984 to construct 12 x 16 Vinyl Grand Victorian Shed with shed dormer, seconded by Lesley Wallace, Roll Call Vote: Bett McCarthy - aye Lesley Wallace - aye Wendy Shuck – aye Berberian, J Scott & Jeanmarie, 11 Medinah Drive, Barnstable, Map 355, Parcel 014, built 1983 Replace all windows and entry doors with new. Scott Peacock, representative, present. Jeanmarie and Scott are present. Scott presents and says they are replacing all the windows. 8 over 8 to 6 over 1. True divided lights. Color will be added to the door. Haven’t chosen color yet. White or green which is the existing. Lesley- Are the windows in the front going to be uniform? Scott- Yes Lesley- Appropriate. Wendy- What will the bay window look like? Scott- Flankers will be a hair bigger possibly 30”. Picture window will not have any grilles. White windows. Wendy- Appropriate. Bett- Fitting for the property and neighborhood. Will upgrade the home nicely. Public comment: None A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for Berberian, J Scott & Jeanmarie, 11 Medinah Drive, Barnstable, Map 355, Parcel 014, built 1983 to replace all windows and entry doors with new as submitted, seconded by Lesley Wallace, Roll Call Vote: Bett McCarthy - aye Lesley Wallace - aye Wendy Shuck – aye Approval of Minutes January 25, 2023 A motion was made by Wendy Shuck to approve the January 25th 2023 minutes as submitted with the exception of the roll call vote for George Street, seconded by Lesley Wallace, Roll Call Vote: Bett McCarthy - aye Lesley Wallace - aye Wendy Shuck - aye Next Meeting Date: February 22, 2023 ADJOURNMENT- Wendy moved to adjourn meeting.
