One of LAPC’s charges is to help promote the trail system within the Town of Barnstable. On July 11, 2022, Ian Ives, Director of Mass Audubon Long Pasture Sanctuary, described the Audubon’s vision for an All Access Trail at the Long Pasture site. As I am sure everyone is aware, one of the silver linings of COVID was that more people were introduced to the pleasures of open air and open space. The trail system within the Commonwealth and within the Town of Barnstable became and continue to be well-traveled. As more people accessed the trails, the more obvious became the need to broaden this access to a wider population. Promotion of All Access Trails is one effort to meet this growing demand. LAPC members were impressed by Mr. Ives’s presentation and voted unanimously to support his efforts by recommending approval to the Conservation Commission. Respectfully, Ann Canedy, Chair, Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee CC: Ian Ives, Long Pasture Planning and Development Department ∙ Elizabeth Jenkins – Director ∙ 367 Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601 Phone: 508-862-4785 Fax: 508-862-4784 Town of Barnstable Land Acquisition and Preservation Committee www.town.barnstable.ma.us/LandAcquisitionandPreservation
