Subject: CMYC Stance on Bonnybrook Realty Dock Extension
Dear Barnstable Conservation Commission,
As commodore of the Cotuit Mosquito Yacht Club, I would like to express our organization’s disapproval of the
proposed Bonnybrook Realty dock extension. The existing dock encroaches on a primary access point to Cotuit
Bay, and an extension would further prevent sailors, both recreational and competitive, from navigating an
already difficult passage.
The area is heavily trafficked, and in order to safely navigate the strong current, boats are forced to leave the
designated channel and often navigate in close proximity to the existing dock. Our organization regularly holds
races that utilize this waterway. A dock extension would make safe passage for racers, spectators, and non-
affiliated boaters more difficult by increasing congestion in an already well known pinch-point.
