We are aware that the building sewer installation did not comply with the engineering plan that was originally submitted. Specifically a four-inch building sewer was installed instead of the originally designed two-inch line with a grinder pump . The Health Division would have no objections to the approval of revised engineering plans(if/when submitted) and the installation of a building sewer installation which would comply with 310 CMR 15.000, State Environmental Code,Title V. However,yesterday we were told the four-inch line was not installed (sloped) correctly. Section 310 CMR 15.222 (6) requires a four-inch building sewer to be laid at a slope of not less than 0.01(1/8 inch per foot. The slope of the building sewer did not meet the minimum required slope of not less than 0.01. It is suggested you contact the designing engineer to resolve this violation of Section 310 CMR 15.222(6). A certificate of Compliance has been requested by the Health Inspector. The plumbing inspector Robert states their jurisdiction is from 10' away from the tank and Don the board of health inspector states their jurisdiction is 10' away from the foundation of the dwelling. We request clarification on if we are good with the 4" sewer drain line once we change over to the cast iron as requested by the plumbing inspector and what else if anything needs to be done to be in compliance with the current codes so we can move forward with this project and get his back on track. As a solution, a cast iron pipe was laid from die garage to the existing septic tank. After inspecting the pipe and checking the pitch, the pipe is at 1%pitch which meets the requirements of 310 CMR 15.222 (6). Although it is the engineer's recommendation to run the pipe 2%pitch before the septic tank it could not be done unless an ejector pump was used. I trust this meets your present needs.
