Demolish and remove existing structures and foundations. B. Remove underground cables, pipes and other. obstructions. C. Abandon existing septic system, backfill or remove structures, D. Relocate utility service connections and water service connection. E. Excavate for footings and grade walls, fill and grade. F. Install bituminous concrete pavement. G. Perform landscaping and planting. HE All other related items required to complete site work. 1.02 Materials A. Gravel for surface and base for concrete slab; and grade beams shall be of the following gradation: Seive % passing 31F 100 All 70-100 3/4" 50-85 #4 30-60 #200 0-12 D. Bituminous Concrete Pavement shall conform to Mass. DPW Type I binder and, top course, C. American Beach - culms shall consist of two or more healthy stems 2-3 feet tall taken from an established stand or purchased conuraercially. 1.03 Construction Methods A. All structures and foundations designated for demolition shall be removed from the site, together with any debris or obstacles encountered during grading or excavation. B. Existing cesspools shall be backfilled with available soil materials. C. Care should be taken to protect existing power and water connections which will be utilized for the new structure. Water connection shall. be severed and fitted with a secure temporary cap. D. Install bituminous concrete pavement on a one (1) foot thick gravel bed extending three (3) feet minimum beyond pavement edges. Pavement shall. be laid in two A" thick courses, one each of binder and top, and compacted with a 10-ton minimum roller or other suitable equipment as approved by the engineer. E. Beach grass shall be planted in culms 18" o.c. 8 to 9 inches deep and trimmed to 12" in height. PAGE 3 OF 9 SECTION 2.00 SEPTIC SYSTEM 2.01 Work Included A. Provide excavation, installation and backfi'il for all components of the septic system as depicted on the plan. 2.02 Materials A. All precast concrete units shall be capable of sustaining an AASHO-HS20-44 loading and shall be as manufactured by Rotondo & Sons, American Precast. or equal. Precast concrete unit capacity Septic tank 8,000 gal,. Grease trap 1,500 gal. Distribution box 9 outlet Leaching pit 6' x 121 B. Washed stone shall be crushed stone or natural. gravel free of dust, iron and fines and shall. be of the following gradations: designation seive % passing 3/4" to A" To 100% 3/4" 0-20% #200 0.5% 1/8" to 1/2" 1/2" 100% #8 0-20% #200 015% C, Cast Iron Pipe shall. be standard. weight conforming to CS-88-66. D� P.V.C. Pipe shall be Sch 40 confomd-ng to P.13 21-70, ASTM 1785. E� Cast Iron Manhole covers shall conform to Mass. DPW Spec. M8.03.0 and shall be as manufactured by LeBaron, LK 110A or equal. 2.03 Construction methods A. The septic system shall be installed in accordaDce with all state and local regulations, plans and specifiCatiOn. provided and line and grades established in the field by the engineering department to within 10® of the building lines of the proposed structure. B. All pipe connections to the septic tank, Breast trap and distribution box are to be securely mortared in place. C. All concrete brick or precast manhole sections and manhole frames to be set in a full bed of mortar. PAGE 4 OF 9 SECTION 3.00 FOUNDATIONS, WALKS and CEMENT CONCRETE MASONRY 3.01 Work Included A. Concrete and masonry work required for this project includes, but is not necessarily limited to: 1) 10" thick reinforced concrete grade walls 2) Grade beams and reinforced footings 3) Sidewalks and steps 4) Reinforced concrete floor slabs 5) Concrete unit masonry walls 3.02 Materials A. Reinforcing bars - #4 deformed bars meeting the requirements of ASTM A-615, Grade 40. B. Welded Steel Wire Fabric - 6-6-10-10 meeting the requirements of ASTM A-185. C. Cement Concrete Minimum 28 day compressing strength 2500 psi Maximum aggregate size 1' " D. Cement unit masonry shall be eight inches wide by eight inches high by sixteen inches long, two cell_, slumped blocks in gray or natural color, and shall conform with the requirements of ASTM C-90-70. 3�03 Construction methods A. Grade walls shall be founded on virgin material at a minimum of four (4) feet below finish grade, and, shall be flat and level on the underside. P. Floor slabs shall be four (4) inches thick laid on a compacted gravel. base. Pitch slabs carefully to drains where applicable and. finish all slabs to a smooth hard troweled surface, C. Sidewalks shall be four (4) inches thick laid on a compacted gravel base and reinforced as shown, Control joints and edging shall be formed with appropriate tools in the fresh concrete after preparing a broor�ed surface. Place 15 lb. asphalt impregnated.felt between s1_dewalk and grade walls. D. Concrete unit masonry shall be laid in a full bed of mortar reinforced with standard weight joint reinforcing every second course. A bond beam as detailed on. the plan shall be constructed to be continuous over all masonry walls and partitions. Lintels over all openings shall be A-36 steel angles 3 x 3 x 1O4 extended six (6) inches into supports. All other fixtures shall be connected with cold wager only. SECTION 6.00 ELECTRICAL 6.01 Work Included A.
