history beyond mere membership (i.e. for service above and
beyond simple membership on a Board, Committee, Commission, Club
or such organization).
Award nominations will be reviewed by Barnstable Historical
Commissioners (BHC). The names of the individuals/organizations that the
BHC accepts as nominees for Preservation Awards will then be

Fliers will be regularly revised and distributed to various historical
groups/organizations/schools/media, entities with historical interests and
input, possibly suggested to applicants, and posted on the BHC website
(task of the Chair) with approval and permission of the Town Council.
There is no limit to the number of awards, and anyone may apply. Any
