Subject: 715 West Main Street ‐ proposed Wendy's
To: Anna Brigham Town of Barnstable Zoning Board of Appeals
I am writing to strongly oppose Arista Hyannis, LLC’s application for a Special Permit for a proposed
drivethrough restaurant, namely Wendy’s, at 715 West Main Street, Hyannis, formerly Santander Bank
I am the owner of property located on Pleasant Park Avenue. Traffic is already congested on West Main
Street with Barnstable High School located across the street from the subject property and the existing
Dunkin Donuts located at 751 West Main Street, especially in the morning and the afternoon, with young
drivers pulling out onto West Main Street and students attempting to cross the street on foot. Traffic
exiting the subject property onto West Main Street and Pine Street during peak hours, as stated above, as
well as during rush hour traffic, and summer traffic, is extremely dangerous and creates gridlock. In
addition, there are not sufficient spaces for parking at the subject property and the space for cars to
maneuver the drivethrough is inadequate. Vehicles parked in parking spaces would potentially be
backing out into cars entering and exiting the premises.
This property borders residential homes and the addition of a drivethrough restaurant would not be
aesthetically pleasing; we do no need the added traffic congestion, increased noise, odors from cooking,
overflowing trash receptacles, and an invitation for rodents.
For the reasons stated above, I urge the members of the Board to decline the application.
Thank you for your consideration,
Michele Pollock
