HomeMy WebLinkAboutOKH 07 28 21 Draft Minutes Town of Barnstable Old King’s Highway Historic District Committee MINUTES Wednesday, July 28, 2021, 6:30pm To all persons deemed interested or affected b y the Town of Barnstable's Old King’s Highway Historic District Act under Section 9 of Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended. You are hereby notified that a hearing was held by remote participation via Zoom Meetings on the following applications: Paul Richard, Chair Present George Jessop, AIA Absent Carrie Bearse Present Lesley Wallace Present Bett McCarthy Absent Kaitlyn Maldonado, Assistant Director, Planning & Development Present Erin Logan, Administrative Assistant Present A quorum being met, Chair Paul Richard called the hearing to order at 6:30 pm. The Chair explained the hearing and appeal process and invited the public to address the Committee and view the plans of interest when the application is called. ______________________________________________________________________________ Roll Call Chair Paul Richard called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and took roll call. Attendance Roll Call: Lesley Wallace Carrie Bearse Paul Richard CONTINUED APPLICATIONS None APPLICATIONS Sunset Lane, LLC, 155 Sunset Lane, Barnstable, Map 319, Parcel 025/000, built 1984 Construct new deck Paul- Sunset Lane is in dissolution and as such cannot build anything new. It was recommended by the Town Council to continue this item until August 11, 2021 and agreed upon by the builder and homeowner to continue. Carrie Bearse moved to continue the Certificate of Appropriateness for Sunset Lane, LLC, 155 Sunset Lane, Barnstable, Map 319, Parcel 025/000, built 1984 to construct new deck to the meeting of August 11, 2021. Seconded by Lesley Wallace Roll Call Vote Paul Richard- aye Carrie Bearse-aye Lesley Wallace- aye Draper, Matthew & Atton, Corrine, 2772 Main Street, Barnstable, Map 258, Parcel 065/000, built 1829, Contributing Structure in the Old Kings Highway Historic District Remove the connector between the main house and the carriage house. Rebuild two -story connector on same footprint with new kitchen on the first floor and bedrooms above. Replace three tab shingles with architectural asphalt shingles. New construction to match. Kevin Warner, representative, was in attendance. Kevin presented a historic home that has been passed throughout the generations. They would like to take the ramshackle connector from the main house and the carriage house and make a connector that matched in kind with the main house. All materials will match and use the footprint is enlarged slightly. On the north elevation, it is slightly more contemporary. That elevation will be more window than normal but it is not visible from the road. Paul- Appropriate. Asked if they were making any changes to the carriage house other than the connector. Kevin- No, only tying in and doing so gingerly. They would like to restore the antique door. Carrie- Appropriate. The materials match. Lesley- Thinks the flow of the house is better. The windows will not be able to be seen. Appropriate. Public Comment: None.
