Gallagher – Work Protocol Beacon Marine Construction is proposing the maintenance reconstruction of the existing fixed pier and embankment stairs located at 611 Santuit Road in Cotuit. The goal of the project is to maintain the structures in their existing footprints and with all new materials. Construction is expected to be performed with access from both the upland and well as from the water using a floating work platform working around the tides. Construction of the pier and stairs are to be performed segmentally and each are to be worked on continuously until completed. The pier and stairs are to be reconstructed in kind using all new and like materials as the existing. The rebuilt structures are to be built in exact conformance to the approved plan by Bramen Engineering Company dated April 29, 1987, and the existing license. Each structure is proposed to be disassembled segmentally and all remnants and debris is to be immediately removed from the site and disposed of offsite. Once a section has been removed, it will be reconstructed in its original footprint and the process will repeat until complete. All work on the fixed pier will be accomplished by working around the tide cycles with all work completed as appropriate to the tide cycle. Any work requiring a floating work platform will be completed at high tide to avoid grounding. No floating equipment will be deployed to work in any salt marsh. Each support post is to be replaced in kind one by one and then all framing members are to be installed accordingly with all components remaining in the same footprint. All work on the embankment stairs will be accomplished with access from the upland. Each section of stairs or landings will be removed segmentally and reconstructed immediately following and in kind with the existing. All vertical support posts are to be installed in the same footprint and location as the existing and all framing members are to be installed accordingly with all components remaining in the same footprint. All work on the embankment stairs is to be completed without the use of any heavy equipment needing to be deployed onto the embankment.
