The Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative is pleased to provide comment to the Barnstable Conservation Commission in response to the Notice of Intent (NOI) filed by Park City Wind to the Commission in April 2022. AVANGRID’s offshore wind projects are a critical part of a clean energy strategy for New England and to continue to build an offshore wind industry in the United States. Park City Wind will generate more than 800 Megawatts of renewable energy and supply it directly to the New England grid, powering over 400,000 homes and businesses. This is critical in significantly decreasing our region’s reliance on fossil fuels and enhancing the reliability and diversity of our energy supply. AVANGRID has demonstrated with its joint venture, Vineyard Wind 1, and continues to demonstrate with Park City Wind that it has and will continue to perform all necessary due diligence with respect to environmental safety for the project, both at the Craigville Beach parking lot and the Centerville River crossing. In addition, AVANGRID has invested significant resources in the community and the team has worked closely with the local leaders to ensure a successful, mutually beneficial project. This project will create thousands of jobs across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the region. We urge the Barnstable Conservation Commission to expeditiously review and approve Park City Wind. Sincerely, Dorothy A.
