SHELLFISH SURVEY RESULTS AND COMMENTS:
On August 21, 2023, Natural Resources staff performed a shellfish survey at 40
Waterman Farm Road. The proposed project is located in the Massachusetts Division of
Marine Fisheries designated growing area (DMF/SC24.1); classified as prohibited.
Several pulls were taking using a lined basket rake. No shellfish were found. The
sediment is severely compromised and was borderline dangerous to conduct the survey.
This bottom is not suitable for shellfish settlement or recruitment. Picture 1 shows the
anoxic bottom sediment.
Natural Resources does not object to this project. No shellfish will need to be removed
from the site prior to construction.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth A. Lewis, Shellfish Biologist
