Steinhilber; Paul Neary Subject: Re: Scheduled Park City Wind Meeting Before the Barnstable Conservation Commission Patrick, As I commented to you at last night's Avangrid presentation at the Centerville library, I was shocked to see your email stating that the Park City Wind project would be on the Barnstable Conservation Commission's agenda for this Tuesday, July 11th. At the May Avangrid presentation, you told those in attendance that the Conservation Commission meeting for Park City Wind was expected to be held sometime this summer and that plenty of notice would be given to the public. I would hardly call your July 6th email (see below), which was sent to just 14 people and only three business days prior to the July 11th meeting, as "plenty of notice." Particularly since two of those business days, July 6th and 7th, were during the week of July 4th when many people have been on vacation, entertaining or traveling. As I pointed out last night, Avangrid didn't even send notice of the Conservation Commission meeting to the full mailing list it normally uses to notify the public of its monthly presentations. Whether intended or not, the short notice (3 business days) and lack of outreach (14 email addresses) gives at least the appearance that Avangrid is attempting to get this item past the Conservation Commission and obtain its approval with little or no public comment or awareness. As such, I would like to think that Avangrid would want to avoid any concerns that the public might perceive its actions in such a manner. Therefore, I am sending this email to reiterate the request that I made of you and Avangrid last night. In the spirit of Avangrid's repeated statements of wanting to be a good partner and neighbor and transparent with the community, I ask Avangrid to request the Conservation Commission to postpone and move the Park City Wind agenda item until its July 25th meeting so that at least 2 weeks notice can be provided to the public. I look forward to your response and hope that in fairness and transparency to residents and the community, Avangrid will take the action requested in this email.
