Thank you From: Sandy [mailto:craigvillebeach@comcast.net] Sent: Tuesday, September 5, 2023 12:18 PM To: Karle, Darcy Subject: Park City Wind Dear Darcy, please forward this email to the Commission. Dear Commissioners, Vineyard Wind was denied a permit by the Edgartown Conservation Commission in July of 2019 due to the lack of transparency regarding long and short term adverse effects to the proposed project. Please see below: In a statement released after their vote, the Edgartown conservation commission cited insufficient information from Vineyard Wind as motivation for the denial. The commission found that the applicant, Vineyard Wind, did not submit sufficient information to protect against long-term and short-term adverse effects on the resource area, land under the ocean,” the commission stated in part. “This area is critical for the protection of marine fisheries, land containing shellfish, storm damage prevention, flood control, and protection of wildlife habitat. The commission determined that the predictions offered by Vineyard Wind were not sufficient to allow the alteration of the resources of Muskeget Channel at this time.” My point is, Avangrid has had 4 years to put together a study to determine the effects from this project and they have not. At the last meeting; John Abdeely inquired about monitoring EMFs and asked if this could be done. There must be studies on this particular subject. This should be done and required from our Conservation Commission. The unknown is a factor the board needs to consider as this is our waterways. Earlier this spring, NOAA and URI agreed to a 5 year study on the effects of Wind farm construction. Data is vital and I request the board ask for this concession for this project. In the host agreement with Park City Wind, it reads " the Town of Barnstable will publicly support this project" , please do not rubber stamp Park City Wind. Ask the important questions to protect the environment and residents in our town. Thank you.
