Joe Mackinnon and Chris Clark were in attendance.
Joe led the presentation with a photo of the existing sign that has been in place for the past 55 years. They would like to replace
with a new slightly smaller sign with the standard color of the college and the standard font of the college. The cabinet will be
illuminated with LED lighting from within and operated from a photocell to be turned on when it is dark.
Lesley- Appropriate.
Wendy- Commented on how amazing the original sign lasted as long as it did. Asked if the existing sign is lighted from within.
Joe- Originally, it was lighted from within but the equipment for that failed years ago and is now illuminated by a small light
outside of the sign. On the new sign, only the letters will be illuminated.
Wendy- Asked if the lighting will only be for the letters and not overly bright.
Joe- Correct.
Wendy- Looks very nice and thinks it is appropriate.
Ryan- Echoed the sentiments of the Committee. He stated he is not a big fan of internally lit signs as they look too commercial ,
but in light of the mission of the college he does not take any exception. Commented that he remembers the original sign being
illuminated within and that the materials that no longer available.
Joe- Will be ordering spare parts so that they do not run into the issue of not being able to fix the sign if they need to. There is
multiple LED lights within for energy conservation.
Bett- It’s good for the sign to be illuminated since for all the night courses that the college runs. The traditional colors is
appropriate. The sign is appropriate.
