Notice of this hearing was given by mail, postage prepaid, to all persons deemed affected and by publishing in Cape Cod Standard Times, a daily newspaper published in Town of Barnstable a copy of which is attached to the record of these proceedings filed with Town Clerk. A public hearing by the Board of Appeals of the Town of Barnstable was held at the Town Office Building, Hyannis, Mass., at IM P.M. ............Ontmbob'.....2.24............................. 1959 , upon said petition under zoning by-laws. C Chairman being absent$ ObArles H., McGrath substituted,, At the conclusion of the hearing, the Board took said petition under advisement. A view of the locus was had by the Board. Beecher represented. the Hyannis Inn Motel who requested A Variance to permit the buil:jing of a-'.r. otel unit to a depth greater than permitted by the zoning regulation. Mr. Beecher presented the Board with a Land Court plan showing the parcel of land owned by the Hyannis Inn Motel. There now exists on this parcel two motel. units both constructed within 1. cl.ts of the oxistin; t usiaess area.. 11r. Beecher stated that the petitioner could build, under existing by-laws# to a depth of 830 feet from Naiad Street. Hozrevere this would 16ava a small p+tetion of nand which could not be used for any purpose* The land available for expansion in the Main Street business area is limited and 'to refuss per-Assi.ah would constitute a hardship on the petitioners He pointed out to the Board the existing Fence line on the southeasterly corner or the property and said that the petitioner requested that this line be extended on the some course to High Schoen Road and that the petitioner be allowed to construct his unit can that parcel which would have a depth of 263*56 foot on the easterly side and an undetermined depth. (not greater than 250 feet) on the vestorl.y side; Mr* Beecher stated that the present "motel operation had been well conducted during the past few y0ars and that to the best of his knowladge nose of the abettors objected to tho present expansion:. There were seven people recorded in favor of granting the petition and no one etas recorded, in opposition, ctaor sp"sel: 1t was the opinion of the Board that a hardship did exist which was ' . peculiar to this parcel of .laud and that 'the granting of the pstiti.onert s request would not be detrimental to the beat interests of the public.
