No BoƩon Pond is a keƩle hole pond shared by seven homes with a public right of way. The pond averages less than 400
feet across. It is no longer wisely swimmable, but the band of conservaƟon buffer around it provides habitat for green-
backed heron, red-winged blackbirds, a miriad of transient waterfowl, and turtles and frogs. Its value to those of us
fortunate enough to live on it is conƟngent on one thing, leaving it as natural as possible to enable the enjoyment of the
greenery, the wildlife, the view, and an occasional paddle around its perimeter. Because of the closeness of the pond,
any infracƟon to one area is an insult to all areas.
According to page 20, part 3 of this proposal, the intended purpose of the new, larger pier is to, “reach the outer edge of
the vegetaƟon and approximately 2-3 feet of water”. The Neddars were successful against the neighbors in person
protests some years ago in building the current pier. This exisƟng pier is already past the vegetaƟon berm and in deep
enough water as evidenced by the fact that there is a swimming ladder on it. There is no need for any expanded
construcƟon, as, by their own definiƟon, they have what they want with the exisƟng pier. The structure that exists, and
even worse, the possibility of a bigger project is simply not copaceƟc to the nature of our collecƟve pond. It is not
necessary and is unwanted. I implore the Commission will show due diligence this Ɵme around and not only deny this
project, but curtail any possibility of addiƟons to the exisƟng structure.
