HomeMy WebLinkAboutComment Letter Jerry DiPalma_Curbing Restoration along Gosnold StreetFrom: Jerry DiPalma <jdipalmajr@comcast.net> Sent: Friday, February 16, 2024 6:46 PM To: Cavanaugh, Kimberly Subject: Curbing Restoraon along Gosnold Street Follow Up Flag: Follow up Flag Status: Flagged Kimberly, I was reviewing the plan to restore the curbing along Gosnold Street. My wife and I own the property at 194 Gosnold Street (corner of Old Colony and Gosnold). I am supportive of the restoration plan but had one concern that I wish to bring up. Our house is on the Northeast side of the intersection of Old Colony and Gosnold Street. From the diagrams, it appears that the sidewalk in that section (northeast corner of intersection) is being removed and replaced by loam. This means that if someone is walking on the sidewalk on the south side of Gosnold and crosses the street to walk on Old Colony, they will no longer have a sidewalk to use. Instead, they will cross the street and walk on our lawn to get to the sidewalk on the east side of Old Colony. If I misread the plan and the sidewalk in that area is being replaced, I have no concerns. But if that section of the sidewalk is being removed and covered with loam I have two concerns. First, I don't want people having to use my lawn as a sidewalk. Second, wheel chairs and strollers will not have a sidewalk that connects to the remaining Old Colony sidewalk. They will likely use the street. This is a busy intersection that will likely result in pedestrians being hit by moving vehicles. Could you let me know if my interpretation of the diagrams is correct and, if so, is it possible to include the replacement of the sidewalk as part of the plan? If you wish to discuss this I can be reached on my cell (508-737-3755). Thanks, Gerald (Jerry) DiPalma
