As you may be aware, the designing engineer for the above-referenced project is currently re-designing the sepƟc system
to include the best available nitrogen reducƟon technology, such as a Nitrix, NitROE or other technology listed on the
DEP Approved Title I/A technology website, which can include technologies approved for provisional or pilo Ɵng use.
Please see aƩached report of nitrogen loading analysis by our Board of Health Vice Chairman Tom Lee, P.E.. 2,640
gallons of wastewater is proposed to be discharged per day from this proposed project at this site (based on 24
bedrooms X 110 gallons/bedroom). If the applicant redesigns the system to include the best available nitrogen
reducƟon technology, the total nitrogen load will be 36.47 kg per year (or less), which is 40% less than the maximum
daily load from 17-bedroom project connected to a standard sepƟc system. He also wrote the concentraƟon should be
less than 5 mg/L at the downgradient property line. Therefore based on this analysis, according to Board of Health Vice
Chairman Tom Lee, a '..24-bedroom development could be allowed by the Board of Health' if this project incorporates
the best available nitrogen reducƟon technology at this site.
I have no objecƟons to this analysis.
