VISION FOR BARNSTABLE
VISION FOR BARNSTABLE
Smart traffic management systems
Could dynamically adjust traffic signals to prioritize public
transit vehicles and reduce congestion.
Currently used by transit providers to help expedite
traffic flow and keep vehicles on time.
Autonomous Vehicles?
The U.S. is a major hub for autonomous vehicle research
and development. Companies like Waymo (a subsidiary
of Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google), Cruise
(owned by General Motors), and Tesla are actively testing
autonomous vehicles on public roads in states such as
California, Arizona, and Texas.
Additionally, research institutions like Stanford University
and Carnegie Mellon University are conducting cutting-
edge research in autonomous vehicle technology.
BEST PRACTICES & INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES
10-Year Strategic/5-Year Capital Plan

construction
o Further develop data driven strategies and supporting technology to ensure continual
evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the CCRTA’s delivery of public transit
services
•Hatch EV/ZEV Transition Plan to EVs/ZEVs
•Successful efforts to significantly increase federal funding in support of expanded
transit service
o NTD ferry service reporting – results in major increases in federal funding
