Companies like Waymo (a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google), Cruise (owned by General Motors), and Tesla are actively testing autonomous vehicles on public roads in states such as California, Arizona, and Texas. Additionally, research institutions like Stanford University and Carnegie Mellon University are conducting cutting- edge research in autonomous vehicle technology. BEST PRACTICES & INNOVATIVE STRATEGIES 10-Year Strategic/5-Year Capital Plan o Focused mostly on the migration from fossil fuel vehicles to Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) and related infrastructure (contained on CCRTA website) o Continued focus on transit improvements (e.g. support older adults; new housing construction o Further develop data driven strategies and supporting technology to ensure continual evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of the CCRTA’s delivery of public transit services •Hatch EV/ZEV Transition Plan to EVs/ZEVs •Successful efforts to significantly increase federal funding in support of expanded transit service o NTD ferry service reporting – results in major increases in federal funding (apportionments) THANK YOU!
