Director Assistant Director May 22, 2024 Darcy Karle Conservation Administrator Conservation Department 230 South Street Hyannis, MA 02601 Via Email: darcy.karle@town.barnstable.ma.us Re: New Well Exploration Program Proposed Test Well Exploration at Bridge Creek Conservation Area Hello Darcy, I write to inform you that the Department of Public Works (DPW) will not be moving forward at this time with the planned test well explorations at the Bridge Creek Conservation Area and, with that, are not currently proposing any related work or activity there, including any such work or activity within the jurisdiction of the Wetlands Protection Act or the Town’s wetlands ordinance . We remain of the opinion that the previously proposed test well explorations at the Bridge Creek Conservation Area are exempt minor activities in buffer zone that are “temporary in nature, have negligible impacts, and are necessary for planning and design purposes (e.g., installation of monitoring wells […]” in accordance with 310 CMR 10.02(2)(b)(2)(g). However, if in the future, DPW decides to revisit proposing test well exploration at the Bridge Creek Conservation Area, we commit to filing a Request for a Determination of Applicability to seek a written determination from the Conservation Commission on this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Griffin Beaudoin, P.E.
