Re: Hyphen window graphics and signage
To whom it may concern,
Today I write to ask for your support in approving the variance related to the window
graphics and signage for Hyphen at 525 South Street.
Hyphen, by definition, creates connection, and this is where people of all abilities join
together to create, learn, perform, and enjoy time spent together in Hyannis. The
graphics work beautifully not only as a screen to provide the privacy needed but as an
art installation corresponding with the creative programming that is conducted within
the space. The sign is especially successful in demonstrating that Hyannis is a
creative and inclusive community that is accepting of differences.
I am one of the owners of 525 South St and along with Susan Battista and many many wonderful
community partners (including Cape Cod Can, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Live Love Local and HyArts)
have joyfully contributed to making Hyphen a community hub. Hyphen now functions not only as a
gallery but a community gathering space. As stated above, the Hyphen graphics allow for privacy for
events like yoga classes and rehearsals, while clearly communicating the vibrancy of this particular
community. The bright, tasteful, and functional window graphics perfectly express the spirit and the
function of this wonderful addition to Hyannis.
Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Amy Brenneman
