This letter contains information from that visit that will help you to become compliant with the Town of Barnstable Ordinance: Chapter 108 Hazardous Materials Enclosed are copies of Chapter 108: Hazardous Material Ordinance and a copy of labeling requirements for all waste products in your -shop. I have also enclosed a spill plan/contingency plan that is required. Please note the problems identified at your place of business during the hazardous materials inspection and the corresponding recommendations listed below: PROBLEM: a Material Safety Data Sheets not available during visit. ORDER: C Massachusetts General Law-Right to Know Law states that." MSDS's should be filed in an organized manner at a central location in the workplace so that the employer can easily provide an MSDS if an employee requests one " e Town of Barnstable Ordinance Chapter 108::Hazardous Material section 108-4 (B) Inventory and registration states that the "material safety.data sheets shall be made available upon request of the Health Department. PROBLEM: e Waste oil drums not. labeled correctly. All waste containers should be labeled Hazardous Waste and what it is, oil, gas, anti-freeze, etc. a All waste drums must have all fill/vent openings sealed during non-use. Clean tops and bottoms of containers. ORDER:- 0 Please label all drums "Hazardous W.aste'Oil" or the specific product in each-these marking should be in contrasting,colors. 0 Secure all opening in.containers.while not in use- Clean tops and bottoms of drums - PROBLEM: e You must have a metal can with lid for any oily rags that.are used. Please make sure that all new product,containers-are labeled as such.and.labels are facing out to,make easy to read what the products are. You.are considered a very small quantity generator (VSQG)please follow guide lines enclosed for VSQG.
