On August 21, 2013, Nina Coleman and [inspected the Winder's Cottage at Sandy Neck. As Town
Architect, I report herein formally the former cottage has been abandoned for years. It is in a state of
demolition by neglect. There are no services to the site, including electrical power, water, sewer, gas,
phone and cable, nor are there any services on the road which accesses the site. I believe the fuel
source for cooking or heating, years ago, was probably by propane which has since been long
removed.
I report to you that their are no services to the structure today and as such a demolition permit can be
issued. All that remains is exposed wood studs, rafters, joists and unpainted wood shingles and
pieces of roofing felt, no old piping and wiring or any finishes. This can be seen in the photo sent to
you this day by email.
The remains are a hazard to visiting persons and a blight to the wooded dune are and is an inviting
debris pile awaiting someone's match. I recommend this be removed as soon as possible and,a
demolition permit be issued as requested by Nina.
