After reading in the newspaper that Barnstable had passed the sewarage bill, we would like to petition for a variance on the existing cesspool which has been in use for 45 years without once having any problems. Your recent percolation test verifies the fact that the soil has excellent percolation features. Our home will not be finished until the end of October, 1977, and since we leave for Florida the end of October and will not return until May or June of 1978, (we will only use the house for five months each year) we would_ greatly appreciate your consideration in allowing us to tie into the present cesspool until such time as the sewer line is laid in our area. Also, we would like to point out that when we do occupy the home there are just two adults present. With building costs at such a terrifically high level the added expense of $1300.00 for a temporary septic Tank seems like a needless waste of money. This is particularly pertinent since. by 1978 in May or June, your plans for sewerage might well be formulated. We realize th'a.t since the date for digging is on April 26th we are being pressed for an answer to our problem. Thank you for your kind consideration and cooperation. If you care to reach us you can call 385-9038. Sincerely yours, James T. Cranmer
