However, 110 (one- hundred and ten) gallons of this is waste oil that Mr. Sabatinelli stated he would have removed. Should this waste oil removal transpire than the facility would no longer be subject to licensing. The waste oil is stored in two separate fifty-five gallon metal drums which are located behind the building. The drums are tightly covered,.and are on a wooden pallet, on bare ground. The drums are not labeled, not protected from the. elements nor do.they have containment. Please be aware of the following: any hazardous material stored out of doors is to be protected from the elements, and have 110% containment. All hazardous waste is to be labeled with the words "Hazardous . Waste", along with the type of waste (i.e. waste oil) and the type of hazard (i.e. toxic). ("A SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS FOR SMALL QUANTITY GENERATORS OF HAZARDOUS WASTE" booklet has been provided to Mr. Sabatinelli.) Mr. Sabatinelli was unable to provide a manifest sheet for the past removal of any waste oil. Therefore, a Hazardous Waste Identification Number, was unavailable. A Hazardous Waste Identification Number is to be obtained from the Department of Environmental Protection. (A"Self-Assigning a Hazardous Waste Generator Identification Number" fact sheet was provided to Mr. Sabatinelli.) The remaining hazardous material consists of various automotive lubricants and the solvent in a Parts Cleaner. These materials are stored in doors on an impervious floor. Propane tanks are stored in the Compressor Room;these should be stored out of doors in a secure manner. l Parker, Alisha From: Childs, Barbara on behalf of wpcd wpcd Sent: Tuesday, January 02, 2007 9:43 AM To: Parker, Alisha Subject: RE: Sewer Connections Both are connected -----Original Message----- From: Parker,Alisha . B&S Auto Repair 92 A&B Thornton Drive Hyannis,MA 02601 ` Dear Mr. Leonardi: Thank you for your time and cooperation during the hazardous materials inventory and site visit at B&S Auto Repair on September 26,2006. This letter contains information from that visit that will help you become compliant with Chapter 108 of the Town of Barnstable Ordinance: Hazardous Materials. Enclosed is a copy of the Toxic and Hazardous Materials On-Site Inventory form from the visit to your place of business. Please note the observations listed below: OBSERVATIONS: • MSDS on site • Very Small-Quantities Generator(VSQ)and will not need to obtain a Hazardous - Materials Permit for the fiscal year 2006-2007. • All waste oil is brought to Nakutis Custom Choppers for disposal in the waste oil burner system. • Please keep all propane cylinders outdoors at all times. On Site Inventory Total The Toxic and Hazardous Materials On-Site Inventory from September 26, 2006 shows that you have approximately 79 gallons of toxic and hazardous materials being used, stored, generated and disposed of at A&B Auto Repair, 92 A&B Thornton Drive,Hyannis(Please see enclosed Toxic and Hazardous Materials On Site Inventory sheet). The Board of Health has determined that the using, storing, generating and disposing of over 111 gallons of hazardous materials per month requires businesses in the Town of Barnstable to obtain an annual Hazardous Materials License. This license is not required to be obtained for the fiscal year 2006-2007. If you have any questions about these observations, or you need further information, guidance or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact the Public Health Division. Sincerely, Alisha L.
