HomeMy WebLinkAboutCape House Pictures The Mitchell home, owned currently by Lorraine Doherty Mitchell has been in our family for almost 100 years. The Woodbury’s were the original owners – and their current family members own and live in full time all of the properties that abut our’s from the Sea St. side. My grandfather, James Doherty, sold the plot of land (now 42 Woodbury) to his brother for a $1 and the bank required my grandfather to give his brother an easement to Sea St. before they would give his brother a loa to build the home. That original home was enlarged by the last owner to the size it is currently. The garage the current owners intend to move however is original to the property and in questionable condition. This is the front of the Mitchell home – our property extends to the strip of land on the opposite side of the driveway – which is what this is a driveway not a road. The current owners had, through the realty agent asked my mother about graveling the driveway – which had always just been a packed own dirt road – and she had emphatically said no. When we were away from the property they did it anyway. One of the reasons we objected to this was because we didn’t want cars coming down our driveway fast. I tried to connect with the owner – who does not live on the property I discovered - to address the issue of graveling our property without permission – and him and the individuals who are using the home – about the unsafe and unacceptable speeds with which their cars come through our property (and the neighborhood). They also graveled to the left in front of the house to allow for two cars to park…and where they are now proposing to create four more additional spaces where that one car is parked in the picture. The existing garage is seen in this photo and apparently they intend to move this to the front of their house where it will end up only a few feet from their front stoop.
