HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Comment from Kelley in OppositionTown of Barnstable Zoning Board of Appeals 7/24/2024 Regarding Appeal No 2024-028 McGill: As immediate abutters, we find the proposed increases in ‘Lot Coverage’ and ‘Floor Area Ratio’ excessive and significantly above what is allowed by zoning law. The Barnstable Zoning Laws are established to govern and protect resources via standards for all residents to follow; these laws also retain the ‘Barnstable’ settings and character, for today and in the future. Please consider, encroachment on neighboring property boundaries will impact proper drainage and runoff, density ratio of house to land, neighborhood character, and other environmental impacts such as noise levels. We do not want to infringe on the property owners’ right to improve their property within the current standards, however we strongly disagree with granting any variance above such standards. Allowing these increases will set forth a precedent for expansion of other properties and again will affect the visual and environmental tranquility in this area. Please note as well, the construction has been dangerously incomplete without protection as there is an open pit surrounding a newly poured foundation. The footprint of the original foundation has been greatly expanded. Sincerely, Diane & Patrick Kelley 115 Carlotta Ave, Hyannis, Ma
