HomeMy WebLinkAboutUpdated 10'2-2024 Mural Design Slides for Historic Commission"Seeds of Transformation" is a vibrant mural inspired by the voices of the Cape Cod community, woven together through a visual patchwork of shared heritage and resilience. The design came from a public listening session in which themes of unity, growth, hope, and a love of Cape Cod’s natural landscape emerged. Connections to Hyannis History ●Feathers and quahog shells honor the history of the Wampanoag people and Indigenous heritage ●Hands and quilt elements represent Eugenia Fortes, civil rights activist who was known for knitting during Town Council Meetings. Her quilt is held in the JFK Collection ●Butterfly and ladybug imagery symbolize transformation and hope, reflecting the Cape’s ability to evolve and shape lives More information for visitors on our website, accessible via QR Code Color List Below are the selected colors from the town’s historic palette: Beetroot Madder Covered Bridge Roseland Stagecoach Rocky Hill Winter Harbor Saxon Blue Robin’s Egg Glacier Bay Tory Blue Bold Bolection Jewett White Redrock Canyon Portsmouth Spice Clementine India Trade Pumpkin Andover Cream Pale Organza Biloxi Blue Bowen Blue Newport Indigo Bluefinch Blue Emily Grasshopper Blue Winged Teal Grassy Meadow Meetinghouse Blue Lexington Blue Standish Blue Amish Green The following requested colors are not currently listed on the town's palette: Black Navy or deep blue Pink Purple Sherwin Williams colors, not included in the historic palette: Inkwell Valentine Dragon Fruit Forward Fuchsia Clematis Baroness Berry Frappe Materials and Additional Considerations -Safe for Bricks: Painted on polytab.
