You are hereby notified that a hearing was held by remote participation via Zoom Meetings on the following applications: Bett McCarthy, Chair Present Ryan Coholan Present Lesley Wallace Absent Wendy Shuck, Clerk Present Erica Brown, Administrative Assistant Present A quorum being met, Chair Bett McCarthy called the hearing to order at 6:30 pm. The Chair explained the hearing and appeal process and invited the public to address the Committee and view the plans of interest when the application is called. ______________________________________________________________________________ Roll Call Chair Bett McCarthy called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm and took roll call. Attendance Roll Call: Ryan Coholan Wendy Shuck Bett McCarthy CONTINUED APPLICATIONS Unitarian Congregational Society, 3330 Main Street, Barnstable, Map 299, Parcel 041, Built 1872 Install informational sign detailing the old schoolhouse history as part of the historical walking tour map. Wendy Shuck recused herself from this item. No quorum for this item. This item was continued to the Wednesday October 25, 2024 meeting to take place at 6:30 pm remotely via Zoom. APPLICATIONS Sullivan, Peter & Michele, 56 Alder Brook Lane, West Barnstable, Map 133, Parcel 054, Built 1975 Construct one bedroom addition with a farmer’s porch on front elevation. Wendy Shuck moved to open the public hearing. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Peter Sullivan, homeowner, and Peter Appleton, contactor, were both in attendance for this item. Peter Appleton noted that they would be constructing a one-bedroom addition with a farmer’s porch. The materials include light grey cement board siding with asphalt roofing. Azek white trim. Committee Discussion: Wendy- Asked if the siding on the new addition will match the siding on the house. Peter Appleton stated that on the current front façade is wood clapboard and the siding is wood shingles. It is the intention to change the existing front façade to the new light grey cement board siding and shingles. Wendy commented that the addition is appropriate for the home and blends well with the home and neighborhood. Ryan- Agree with Wendy that this home is off the beaten path. Ryan clarified that the Azek trim would be painted white. Asked if there is a timeline for all the materials to match. Peter Appleton clarified it would be a couple months for it all to match. Bett- This street is off the beaten path and the addition is appropriate. Bett asked about the depth of the porch. Peter Appleton confirmed that the depth is 6’. Public Comment: None Wendy Shuck moved to close the public hearing. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Wendy Shuck moved to approve the Certificated of Appropriateness application for Sullivan, Peter & Michele, 56 Alder Brook Lane, West Barnstable, Map 133, Parcel 054, Built 1975 to construct a one-bedroom addition with a farmer’s porch on front elevation with the modification that the existing siding will match the new light grey cement siding within 6 months otherwise as submitted. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan-aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Tagliaferro, Victor & Barbara, 9 Hezekiah’s Way, West Barnstable, Map 088, Parcel 015, Built 1995 Repaint the house to HC-112 Tate Olive with black trim. Wendy Shuck moved to open the public hearing. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye No representative was present. Administrative Assistant Erica Brown gave a brief description of the project noting the color changes. She noted that although a representative is highly encouraged to be present for COA applications that if the Committee felt they have enough information, then they could make a decision regarding this item. Committee Discussion: Wendy- Clarified that the trim would be painted and that the shutters would remain. Erica noted that yes the trim would be painted and the shutters would remain. Not a color combination that is seen often, but finds it appropriate. Ryan- Appropriate. Bett- Appropriate. Public Comment: None Wendy Shuck moved to close the public hearing. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Wendy Shuck moved to approve the Certificated of Appropriateness application for Tagliaferro, Victor & Barbara, 9 Hezekiah’s Way, West Barnstable, Map 088, Parcel 015, Built 1995 to repaint the house to HC-112 Tate Olive with black trim as submitted. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan-aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Clark Livingston, Susan, 101 Rendezvous Lane, Barnstable, Map 279, Parcel 028, Built 1920 Demolish the existing dwelling and construct new dwelling. Wendy Shuck moved to open the public hearing. Seconded by Ryan Coholan. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye Representatives Kevin Werner and Jack Delaney requested a continuance of this item for both the demolition application and the certificate of appropriateness application to the Wednesday October 9, 2024, meeting. Wendy Shuck moved to continue the demolition application and the certificate of appropriateness application for Clark Livingston, Susan, 101 Rendezvous Lane, Barnstable, Map 279, Parcel 028, Built 1920 to the Wednesday October 9, 2024, meeting at 6:30pm to be held remotely via Zoom. Ryan Coholan seconded. Roll Call Vote Ryan Coholan- aye Wendy Shuck- aye Bett McCarthy- aye EXTENSIONS None MINOR MODIFICATION None Approval of Minutes June 26, 2024 Wendy moved to approve the minutes of June 26, 2024 as submitted.
