Subject: letter in favor of keeping colliers ledge
Dear Conservation Commission and any concerned parties,
I am writing this email in favor of continuing the long-standing traditions surrounding Collier’s ledge off
the Town of Barnstable coast. The proposed removal of Collier’s ledge will not only remove a small piece
of Cape Cods tradition, but will also set a dangerous precedence for the removal of any and all natural
structures that could “harm” boaters. This particular location is well documented and could easily have
a simple beacon added to the ledge to protect the people on the water. This is a better solution that will
keep the waterways safe while also protecting the ecosystem that surrounds Collier’s ledge. As a lifelong
resident and an avid fisherman, who learned how to fish off a boat at Colliers, this would be another loss
to what makes summer on Cape Cod memorable.
I am extremely grateful to all the volunteers who work in and around the town, and respectfully ask that
the Town of Barnstable with whatever power we have in this situation continue to help protect tradition,
recreational fisherman, and our local sea life.
