HomeMy WebLinkAboutPublic Comment Letter- Larry- OpposedTo whom this may concern regarding the property at 139 Old Stage Road:
The home has been a staple to the community for over 100 years. A part of the front main home
actually dates back to the mid 1800’s and was constructed for Augustus (Augustine) a sea captain and
his wife Mary Child’s (See below a picture in the published book about Centerville). The Child’s are
buried not far in Beechwood Cemetery. The home was also part of a multiple cottage compound at
one point that many enjoyed to summer in. The home also served as the first optometrist office on
cape at one point as well.
I truly hope the owners of the property, the town and the public know the importance of preserving as
much history as possible in our small community and the implications of leveling such properties for
new builds that are a dime a dozen these days.
